Match Details

A brilliant 93 from Tom Westley and an unbeaten 72 by Ashar Zaidi helped Essex to a 25-run victory over Hampshire in their opening Royal London One-Day Cup match at Chelmsford.

Essex posted an impressive 304/7 from their fifty overs, with Westley’s impressive total coming in just 98 balls. Alastair Cook was also amongst the runs, hitting 39 before falling to a delivery from Liam Dawson. James Vince top scored for Hampshire with 68, however, Neil Wagner took 4/41 as Essex reduced the visitor’s to 279 from 48.2 overs.
