The rise of online retail has led to modern shopping centres changing beyond recognition. Shopping has become more of a day out. Less than half of visitors are there purely to shop. Instead, they may look for food and beverage options or enjoy the leisure activities available in the shopping centres. For retail centres to thrive it is vital they embrace competitive socialising opportunities and appeal to tech raised millennials.
Cricket is one of the most loved sports in the world. But it is also the perfect metaphor for our day to day lives. Cricket reflects that life is unfair, it teaches us to never judge a book by its cover, and it shows us the importance of innovation.
Last Monday our events team travelled to Sussex for the Kia Super League finals day. Our simulator was set up for over five hours with hundreds of fans having a bat. The day was a memorable one for women's cricket with the top domestic teams battling it out to become champions. Loughborough Lightning finished top of the group stage, meaning they went straight through to the final. They awaited the winner from the semi-final. This match was between the Western Storm and the Surrey Stars who came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the group stage.
Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world behind football. The 2011 world cup final between India and Sri Lanka was watched by 560 million people worldwide. With three different formats of cricket, the game should appeal to a wide audience. However, in the UK, participation has fallen dramatically in recent years.
BatFast has announced a rebrand to become The Sports Simulator Company. This move is because we want to increase participation in all sports, not just cricket. As a result, we have launched PitchLine This is an innovative baseball simulator aiming to get more people in the UK playing baseball. PitchLine will sit alongside Batfast as sub-brands for The Sports Simulator Company. There are also plans to target further sports in the future.
Lots of batsmen find typical net sessions frustrating. When training with their clubs there is usually several problems. For example, the quality of deliveries from bowlers can be erratic and the time allowed at the crease is limited. This can lead to a lack of quality practice which is needed to improve your game. On the other hand, training with a cricket simulator is a way to make sure you have the best chance of developing your batting skills.
Yesterday two separate BATFAST teams headed North for Vitality Blast fixtures at Derbyshire CCC and Durham CCC. The Derbyshire Falcons faced the Northamptonshire Steelbacks while the Durham Jets hosted the Leicestershire Foxes. The fan zones were as busy as ever, with high attendances at both games. Our events team loves Vitality Blast fixtures where fans are passionate about their county side and enjoy getting involved in batting for themselves on our simulator.

BATFAST Cricket Simulators at Class of 92 – with Lancashire Cricket Foundation in association with Lancashire CCC
On Saturday, 21st July 2018, Batfast travelled to Lancashire for an exciting event with the Manchester United Class of 92. We set our weather-proof cricket simulators up at the first pilot launch of the UA 92 university open day. This event was in association with Lancashire County Cricket Club and the Lancashire Cricket Foundation a proved to be an exciting one.
